Emily has almost ten
years experience teaching voice lessons since starting in 2002 in New York City and has
continued to coach classical and popular singers both in and outside the
recording studio since then. She has
taught students in New York and Sweden and is a teaching artist
with the School
of Contemporary Music at
Accent Music.
She trained with the Julliard School’s Steve Smith and with joan
Caplan at the Manhattan School of Music, where she got her Masters in
Music. She then traveled to Stockholm,
Sweden on a Fulbright Scholarship to study classical Scandinavian vocal
repertoire with Iwa Sorenson and Dorothy Irving, and later began to student
with Sweden’s premier pop voice teacher Kishi Tomita, famous not only for her
teaching but for judging Sweden’s Idol on TV.
She currently studies opera and pop voice with Don Marrazzo, a graduate
of the Curtis Institute of Music and a protégé of William Reilly, perhaps best
known for his student Celine Dion.
Tepe is a uniquely
versatile vocalist and has been breaking boundaries as she crosses over from
opera to pop, from concert to jazz repertoire, performing favorite and timeless
standards as well as writing her own pop music as IVA. Her performances range from the Royal Opera
Stockholm, where she had a role specially written for her as Tamar in the World
Premiere of Batseba, to Off-Broadway cabaret (New York Public Theatre) to
performances of her own original music as IVA in venues ranging from the
ultra-posh Nikki Beach in St. Tropez to downtown New York clubs like Pianos, to
the World Café Live (Philadelphia) and mainstage at some of the biggest venues
in Sweden. Her music as IVA has national
radio and TV broadcast exposure in Sweden
and she has her own record label with Universal,
Sweden. She is presently working on her third
album. In Billboard Magazine, she’s been
profiled as an artist to watch. On Sweden’s
foremost morning program, TV4’s Good Morning Sweden, she made her national television debut. She has
appeared multiple times on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and presently
resides in the United States. Most recently she sold out at the Queen
Theatre on Market Street
in Wilmington, DE.
