Gustavo Lopez Manzitti Tenor-Teacher

Mr. Manzitti studied vocal technique with Carlos Guichandut, Nino Falzetti and María Rosa Farré. He is also graduated in Piano at National Conservatory “Carlos López Buchardo”, completing his studies of Harmony and Composition with Irma Urteaga and Orchestral Conducting with José Martí Llorca. Some of his performances include, among others, Canio and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci (Virginia Opera, 2007 and Windsor Symphony, Ontario, 2008), Manrico in Il Trovatore (Anchorage Opera, 2008 and Tampa Opera, 2007), Don Jose in Carmen (Teatro Solís de Montevideo, Uruguay /Teatro Argentino de La Plata, 2007, and Opera Delaware, 2006), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Teatro Argentino de La Plata, 2007 and Luna Park Stadium, 2006), Carlo VII in Giovanna D’Arco (Carnegie Hall, New York, with the New York Grand Opera conducted by Vincent la Selva, 2006), Don José in Carmen (Grand Théâtre de Québec, Canada, and Opera Delaware, 2006), Andrea Chénier (Teatro Argentino de La Plata, 2006), the Duke in Rigoletto (Opera Delaware, 2006), Tito in La Clemenza di Tito (Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 2006), Manrico in Il Trovatore (Teatro Argentino, 2006) , Ernani (Teatro Avenida, Buenos Aires, 2005), Mozart’s Requiem (Basilique de Notre Dame, Montreal, Canada, 2005). In previous seasons he has sang Cavaradossi in Tosca with the New York Grand Opera, and in Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires the main roles of the operas Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra, Carmen, I Lombardi, Doña Francisquita, Armide, Mahagonny and Maldoror. He also performed in Teatro Argentino de La Plata La Bohéme, Alceste and La Traviata, and in Teatro Avenida de Buenos Aires Werther, La Clemenza di Tito, Lucrezia Borgia, Il Pirata, Le Villi, Die Fledermaus and Beggar’s Opera. Future engagements for season 2008/09 include Il Trovatore (Orlando Opera and Virginia Opera), Tosca (Tampa Opera), Aida (New York Grand Opera in Central Park, New York), Verdi’s Requiem, Aida, L’Amico Fritz and La Fanciulla del West (Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires), Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci (Teatro Argentino de La Plata), etc. In addition to opera, Mr. Manzitti was invited to join the musical-humoristic group “Les Luthiers”, during their internationally acclaimed world tours 2001-2003. He also co-starred with renowned argentine actress Norma Aleandro as the lead tenor in the Buenos Aires version of Terrence McNally’s theater play Master Class. Together with Mr. Leo Maslíah he created and performed the satyric musical show “Opera, Castidad & Yogur Diet”, appearing in Buenos Aires and international tours along with numerous shows on south-american TV. At the same time, he develops an intense activity as a composer and orchestra conductor.
