Myriam Toker has a Bachelor Degree in Choral Conducting (from Argentina, Conservatorio Provincial “Juan José Castro”). She was part of the Master Program Emerging Artist at the Superior Institute of Arts of the Teatro Colón (Argentina).
She studied with renowned opera singers from around the world such as Nino Falzetti (Italy), Vivian Mordo, Martina Arroyo (USA), Regine Crespin (France), Heather Harper (UK), and the finest repertoire teachers in Argentina, the great conductor Reynaldo Censabella and M. Bruno D’Astoli (both from Italy)
Argentina has one of the biggest Opera Houses in the world, only compared in prestige and education programs with the MET and La Scala de Milán. The best Italian tradition of singing is still a heritage proudly kept in Teatro Colón and its School of artists, in which Mrs. Toker has studied and performed. She sang there the main roles in operas by Verdi, Wagner, Mozart, Weill, Purcell, Puccini, as well as Camera Concerts and Radio Auditions. Mrs. Toker shared the stage with internationally acclaimed artists (Frederika Von Stade, Jerome Hynes, Raúl Jiménez, Alfredo Kraus, Jaume Aragall, Juan Pons, Eva Marton, Leona Mitchell, Fabio Armiliato, etc.) and with conductors such as Julius Rudel, Helmut Rilling, Stefan Lano, Stuart Bedford, Charles Dutoit and Zubin Mehta, among others.
As a singer she has won the British Council Contest (UK-Argentina) and the First Place at the Juventudes Musicales Contest ( Musical Youth, Belgium, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ,UNESCO).
She won the “Revelation of the Year” prize for the supporting role in Master Class given by ACE (Critics of Entertainment Academy) and the “Trinidad Guevara Award”, Best Supporting Role (National Government Awards), the two most prestigious awards in Theater in Argentina.
As a performer she has also been in deep relation with Musical Theater, and she played the lead role in the opera Evita, in South America. She has also been nominated “Best Leading Role” and “Best Musical Comedy” for Ecstasy Spirit of Jacques Brel a French Musical production in Buenos Aires under the auspices of the French Embassy.
Mrs. Toker has developed a large and intense experience teaching voice in Argentina, being part of the National and Provincial Staff in Musical Institutions. Among her students there are actors, musical and opera singers who developed professional careers in their fields.
Her special devotion to vocal technique leads her to help both beginners and professional singers. She also pays special interest to body techniques that can develop the voice and help professional singers with traumatized voices.
Mrs. Toker teaches Spanish, Italian and French diction for students with interest in those repertoires and styles.
She charges $25.00 per 1/2 hour lesson and takes payments 4 lesson blocks in advance, payed monthly.
