Guitar Teacher Bio
– Debbie Loftis
Debbie Loftis grew up with music constantly playing in her home.
At a young age she had opportunity to study guitar at Caruso’s Music School
in Brookhaven, PA where she was trained in a variety of
styles.
Following
her guitar studies at Caruso’s Music
School, she earned a
degree in biomedical technology. After
working in the field for several years, she returned to her musical roots and
taught guitar classes and private lessons at various schools throughout the tri-state
area. During this time she homeschooled
her four children, and taught science and music for homeschool co-ops.
Debbie’s teaching experience and personal
studies include rock, blues, jazz, contemporary and traditional Christian, solo
improvisation, beginner classical, and some country.
She
strives to make guitar lessons relevant and enjoyable for the student by using
the student’s musical interests wherever possible. Theory and reading are incorporated into the
lesson according to the student’s interest, ability, and parental preference.
With
over 20 years of experience as a guitar instructor, Debbie is one of the
most-sought after female guitar teachers in the area. She has the privilege of
the seeing the success of her students playing out in local bands, leading
worship in their churches and schools, going on to be music majors, and even
becoming guitar teachers themselves.
Debbie
plays acoustic and electric on her church worship team and electric lead guitar
in a classic rock and blues band ministry she started called, “Not Too Late”.
Her band has played a variety of venues including Six Flags, Hangar 84
Concerts, 9/11 US troops benefit concerts, private parties, weddings, local and
regional church coffee houses, festivals, and more. The “Not Too Late” CD,
which she produced, has received worldwide distribution and airtime.
